The Tiedown is an invention born of necessity! Wearing a necktie daily during a two-year stint in Baja California in Mexico I became an expert on what NOT to do to keep that subtle breeze off the Pacific from blowing my tie into my face. Traditional Tie-Tacks left holes in expensive ties, and I didn't care much for the high visibilty of a Tie-bar. So one day in the late '90's I was sitting down to breakfast, and the solution popped into my head. I cut the first Tiedown out of the side of a milk jug, and although the design has been refined over the years, the material is still basically the same.

These tiedowns work great, are completely invisible when worn, and are just fantastic. One great thing about them is that you can unbutton your top button and loosen your tie a bit, say after work, and the nature of the tiedown lets the tie loosen without binding as it would with a tie tack. The plastic ones are fairly indestructible and last forever.

This product is amazing, hold the tie correctly and doesnt damages it. Maybe you prefer a shiny tie holder that adds to your looks, but I prefer this one because is stays in place and doesnt make a hole to the tie... and just look at the price, you can buy 3 or 4 to give to a budy because the shipping is more expensive than the product :p... a must buy.

Absolutely amazing product. I know it seems so simple, almost "cheap," but it is anything but. The pictures here do not do it justice. When used, it, literally, is invisible. It is also vastly more sturdy than I thought it would be. While I do not wear a tie daily, I do from time-to-time during the cooler times of the year when I wear my long-sleeve uniform shirt (I'm a correctional officer at a prison), and while ties are not required, I always wear one with that particular uniform. Due to the nature of the job, I am moving all day, including bending, squatting, and other job-related functions. This had always been an issue for me. A few wear tie bars and such, but even those move around, and could, if needs be, be used as a weapon. I have been wearing the tiedown for awhile now, and the tie stays perfectly straight no matter what I am doing.

I know most people will be wearing it in a different setting than I am, but the fact that it works so well where I am, should show others that it would be perfect for normal wear any other time a tie is required or wanted.

Great, great item.

I generally use a tie chain, I dont like the holes left in my silk ties by tacks, and ties these days seem too wide for a tie bar to grasp completely.
Some years ago, my wife gave me one of these tiedowns, and I've since ordered more.
Thoroughly satisfied with the product. Keeps tie straight and no need to fool with tacks or bars.

This simple little tiedown works great. As an entertainer, I wear ties in all my shows and did not want to use a tie bar. I think that the use of a tie bars is not a good look to a nice suit/outfit. I would highly recommend this item and plan on buying more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it!June 3, 2009
This review is from: Tiedown, the Alternative to Tie Tacks and Tie Bars (Apparel)
My wife got a TIEDOWN from its creator and brought it home to me. Five days a week I am in jeans and a polo, but two days a week I perform weddings at a Viva Las Vegas Themed Weddings chapel. Last week I forgot to add my TIEDOWN to my shirt and tie as I dressed. I had outdoor weddings and a particulary messy lunch and found my tie flapping in the breeze and almost dipping in my lunch. You can be certain I will never leave the house to work at the chapel without putting on my TIEDOWN!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful, very practicalApril 26, 2009
This review is from: Tiedown, the Alternative to Tie Tacks and Tie Bars (Apparel)
For the price, it's a little expensive, but honestly, it's a cleverly simple enough invention. As far as the other postings stating that it "bends your ties" in awkward positions etc, I'm wondering if it has to do with the type of shirt and the distance of the buttons or something because I've not had the issues they are referring to. These tiedowns work as advertised and they keep the tie from flying around in the wind and from pulling me into the shredder when I lean over to pick something up (just kidding).

These work as advertised! I keep one in my wallet so in case I run out of the house and forget it I always have one on me! Best $2 I have spent in a while. I was worried about it being visible, but its not.

Trust me, these things work. You will wonder why you haven't seen them before.

This inexpensive gadget does a good job of holding ties in place. Unlike tie clasps which can get visibly boring when worn daily, this is nice and covert.

For the cost--I thought--might as well try this gadget--there's no real financial investment, so if it looks or behaves goofy, i'll just toss it in the trash. So, my husband buttons one end of the Tiedown, slides the Tiedown through the necktie's nametag (with the shorter necktie end tucked in also) and buttons the Tiedown at the other end. I would've bet money on the fact that you could see the edges of this 'cheap' tie holder or that the tie just wouldn't lie right.

Well, I was right. The tie crumpled all up and looked goofy--until we moved the Tiedown down one button. Then I had my husband stand up straight, lean forward, lean from side to side......... OMG.... I could not see the Tiedown at all, and the tie was completely well-behaved! We were thrilled with this new gadget! Hubby has worn it for a week--and has not heard one comment from colleagues about the 'unusual' tie holder. Because no one can see it!

I do have one suggestion though--they should be sold in packs of three or five--that way if one gets broken by the kids, chewed up by the dog, or lost by dear hubby, then you'll have extras on hand. So, in the meantime, buy a few when you order! (Now available!! The following value packs!) *** Tiedown Value Pack - 10 Plastic *** Tiedown Value Pack - 5 Plastic *** Tiedown Sample Pack - 3 Plastic, 2, Leather, 1 Great Price ***

This is a product that will eventually be sold in high quality retail shops--get them while they're still so CHEAP, because once the designers get a hold of them, stamp their name on 'em and then crank the price up--you'll think you're buying a slice of gold instead of plastic or leather!! Trust me, I'm stocking up NOW!

Buy 'em. You'll love 'em. Tiedown, the Alternative to Tie Tacks and Tie Bars

********* Hubby has been using ONE Tiedown for over a month now--although we have others--and this first Tiedown is still in great shape! We continue to be impressed with the simplicity and efficiency of this product! Kudos *********

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiedown is a wonderful alternative to a tie tack or tie barJune 17, 2010

Tiedown is a very inexpensive and ingenious solution to hold ties in place, without having to wear a tie tack or tie bar. Because they hold the tie down to your shirt from the back of the tie (through the loop on the back of the tie where you tuck the narrower end through the wider end), the look is uncluttered by anything on top of the tie. The holes for putting the Tiedown over the buttons on your shirt are long enough that they can accommodate a wide variety sizes (i.e. a wide variety of distances between buttons), which is also clever. I am completely satisfied with Tiedowns, and have now ordered them twice.

These work so much better than tie clips or pins, look better (they allow the tie some enough movement to look natural while staying in place) and cost so much less it's really a no brainer.

These little inventions are the greatest tie management tool ever!! I have been using them for several months and have given many away as token gifts in birthday cards and just handing them out to friends. I can't say enough good things about them. Plus, they are only a buck-fifty apiece and seem to last forever.

This is a great product which I use whenever I must wear a time for work. I must occasionally work with conveyor belts and trash compactors, so it is very important to keep my tie close to my body to avoid getting caught by the heavy machinery. This does the job nicely and cost-effectively, without making holes or adding weight to my chest. And I don't like wearing jewelry, which I consider tie pins and tie bars to be. This holds my tie down without anyone seeing it. I only wish it wasn't so easy for my to lose these things.

I have to say this works perfectly and serves its purpose better than a stupid-looking tie bar (unless you're a security guard or used-car salesman or something, I don't think you want a tie bar showing). The one caveat is if you don't line up the tie perfectly with the tiedown, it will bunch up a bit, but I don't think there was really any way they could've designed around that. You just have to adjust the length a little to make it work if that happens.
